The Lexington Historical Society operates three house museums in Lexington, Massachusetts, each of which were involved with in the Battle of Lexington, the first battle of the American Revolution. When visiting the Lexington Historical Society history lovers can see the Buckman Tavern, where militia gathered and waited for the arrival of the British regulars from Boston; the Hancock-Clarke House, Paul Revere’s destination in Lexington and where John Hancock and Sam Adams were staying in the days leading up to the battle; and the Munroe Tavern, which the British soldiers used as a field hospital for a short period of time during their retreat to Boston.
